WOMEN WELFARE DEPARTMENT

AN EQUAL BIRTHRIGHT{purely Original Discourse}

SHRII SHRII ÁNANDAMÚRTI

5 December 1978, Madras, INDIA

A few months back a very knotty question was placed before me. The question was knotty, no doubt, but the reply was not at all knotty. Knotty means kno…

The reply was not at all knotty. The reply was very simple.

The question was concerned that almost all the scriptures of the past said that women folk are not eligible for Salvation.

And Almost all the scriptures of almost all the so-called faiths said like this, that before the attainment of Salvation, they will have to come back in male framework.

And some other faiths where there is no scope for rebirth, they say that, they will have to wait for that final day of judgment, that is, upto doomsday, before they can get or expect any Salvation.

Certainly it was a knotty problem, rather, a knotty question.

But as per Ánanda Marga, the girls have got equal right in each and every sphere, and then why they should not have the right of attaining Salvation?

You see, boys and girls are just like two hands of the father. And a little boy has he is loved by his father; a little girl is also similarly loved by the father; and should the father want that his boy, his son should attain the Supreme Bliss and the girl should burn in the fire of hell? Certainly not.

If one says like this, one is not doing justice to the Supreme Father. To say like this is bad, is extremely bad.

Lord Shiva said, a question Párvatii once, Párvatii asked Shiva, “O Lord, what is the minimum qualification for becoming a Spiritual aspirant?”

You know, for each and every job in the newspaper advertisement column, you will see, “The minimum qualification is this & that.”

So Párvatii’s question was,

“What is the minimum qualification for becoming a Spiritual aspirant?”

A healthy question, no doubt, a very healthy question.

And Shiva’s reply was, and this reply was given by Shiva, I think about 7000 years (seven thousand) ago, when Shiva was here in this India, BUT THE QUESTION WAS PLACED BEFORE SHIVA, NOT IN ENGLISH. Laughter….

In reply, Shiva said,

Átmajiṋánam Idaḿ devi paraḿ Mokśa eka Sádhanaḿ;

Sukrtaermánavo bhútvá Jiṋániicen Mokśamápnuyát.

For attainment of Salvation one is to know Oneself; that is, the knowledge should be, the projection of knowing faculty, should not be outside, it should be inside.

Inwardly-projected actional expression is Átmajiṋánam, and outwardly-projected actional expression is Aparajiṋánam.

You know, one should acquire Átmajiṋánam, that is, one should have inwardly-projected actional manifestation.

Átmajiṋánam Idaḿ devi paraḿ Mokśa eka Sádhanaḿ;

And this is the way, this is the route, this is the path of Salvation.

And who is to acquire this Átmajiṋánam and finally attain Salvation?

Sukrtaermánavo bhútvá jiṋánii cenmokśamápnuyát.

After, Sukrtaer means Sakrtaeay.

By passing through so many frameworks of so many animals and so many other beings, one becomes, gets the human framework, one gets the human structure.

And when one gets the human structure, one becomes eligible for Self-knowledge, Átmajiṋánam.

And by dint of acquiring that Átmajiṋánam, one attains Salvation.

So the Shiva’s reply is that the minimum qualification for getting Salvation, for doing Sádhaná, is just a human structure.

HE never says, HE never said, that it should be a male structure; it should be body of a male. HE said it should be the body of human being.

And the question was also raised by an honourable lady, Párvatii, and Shiva’s reply satisfied her very much.

Now about 7000 (seven thousand) years ago this was said by Shiva.

That is as per Tantra, women folk are equally, have got equal right to attain Salvation, and there has been no differentiation made by Shiva in this respect.

And you see, during the time of Krśńa; Krśńa also said, what?

Paritráńáya Sádhúnám Vinásháya ca duśkrtám;

Dharma Saḿsthápanártháya Sambhavámi Yuge Yuge.

Just to save the right-thinking people” – Paritráńáya Sádhu – What is Sádhu, “just to save the, for the Paritráńa of Sádhus”.

Lord Krśńa says, Paritráńa?

What is the meaning of Paritráńa and what is the meaning of Sádhu?

Sádhu means:

Pránáh yathátmano’bhiiśt́ah bhútánám api te tathá;

Átmaopamyena bhutánáḿ dayáḿ kurvanti sádhavah.

For each and every living being, his personal life is very dear, very costly.

Now, a particular living being has got love for his own life and that’s why, knowing this fact, realizing this fact, the man who loves others as he loves himself, that man is called a Sádhu.

That is, a man should not be carnivorous, like cats, dogs and tigers.

A man must not eat meat, that is, a man must have love for each and every living being as he loves himself, and that man is called Sádhu.

But such a man, “man” in common gender, not male; such a man – may be a male, may be a female.

You know, “man” is not only masculine gender, “man” is

common gender also.

Man is mortal” – here “man” means both male and female.

Now, Paritráńáya sádhúnám. Krśńa said, “Just to save these sádhus”

, Sádhus means who loves others as he oblique she

 (he/she) loves himself oblique herself (himself/herself)

– Paritráńáya, “for their Paritráńa – ”

Tráńa means, what to say, “to save” – Tráńa, Tráńa means “relief work”, you know, It is also called tráńa kárya in Saḿskrta.

Paritráńa, what’s the difference between Tráńa and Paritráńa?

Here Lord Krśńa says, Paritráńáya Sádhúńám.

Paritráńa means “Saving them permanently”.

Suppose you have saved a man from his danger: if that saving is of temporary nature, it is Tráńa.

During flood, famine you should do Tráńa work. You do not help them permanently, you give them what, temporary relief, so it is tráńa.

But when this relief is given, when they are saved from the attacks of demons permanently, then it is called Paritráńa.

When one is freed from all worldly fetters, it is a permanent relief. And this permanent relief, for, what? It is for Sádhus.

Sádhu includes both males and females. So Krśńa also

 supports Shiva.

Paritráńáya Sádhúńám vinásháya ca duśkrtám. “And for the annihilation, for the destruction of the duśkrtá”, duśkrtá means “antisocial elements”, Duśkrtám.

Dharma Saḿsthápanártháya, and He does it, for what, What’s the purpose?

For the Saḿsthápana of Dharma. Saḿsthápana means placing an entity to its right position.

Suppose this is the right position of Dharma?

Due to so many factors, it may get degraded. So, this degradation is called Gláni. It went here, it is the Gláni of Dharma.

And if it is placed with right position;what it was, where it was and where it should be, then it is sthápana, sthápanam.

But here Krśńa says, Saḿsthápanam, that is, “placing it in proper position

  and making proper arrangement for keeping it in proper position” is

Saḿsthápana.

Dharma saḿsthápanártháya sambhavámi yuge yuge

 – “I come here again and again.”

Here Lord Krśńa also says, HE never says that ladies have got no right to attain Salvation.

So on behalf of the philosophy of Ánanda Marga, and  also on behalf of the cult of Tantra, I hereby, I hereby  announce that both males and females, who are boys  and girls of the Parama Puruśa, the sons and  daughters of Parama Puruśa, they have, both of them have got equal birthright to attain Salvation.
Those who say that ladies are not entitled for the same, they  are antisocial elements. They represent vested interest.
