“1939 – YANTRA”

SMARAN’T'IIKA’ / PRATIIKA

Svastika inside.
These are symbols of energy, knowledge, advancement and permanent victory, respectively.

Yantra in ÁNANDA MÁRGA named ‘PRATIIKA‘ was devised by SHRII SHRII ÁNANDAMÚRTI which represents the outward expression of BELOVED GURU SHRII SHRII ÁNANDAMÚRTI.

The A’nanda Ma’rga Emblem

Once, Beloved BA’BA’ ( Shrii Shrii A’nandamu’rti jii ) asked to the Workers(Avadhuta/Avadhutikas)/( Wholetimers = W.T’s ) during a Reporting Session, what should be an appropriate name of the Pratiika which the Margiis use all the hours. It was the time, when Beloved Baba prescribed that every Ananda Margii should use the Pratiika over one’s Ana’hata Cakra all the times .

“Pratiika” literally means some sorts of symbol or sign that carry certain significance . Some of the Avadhutas proposed different name to it such as Locket , Pendant etc .

Later, Beloved Baba asked us , ” How do you think it to be named as ” SMARAN’T'IIKA’ – means which signifies to represent one’s Ist’a ( Spiritual Goal) and A’darsha ( Ideology – the Path to achieve ) .

In Samskrta , “Smrti” means to remember , Rememberence , Memory of something etc.

” Smaran’tiika’ ” means the symbol which represent and reminds us about Ist’a and A’darsha .

We felt it very nice and appropriate . Immediately Beloved Baba mentioned that henceforth the A’nanda Ma’rga Embleme (Pratiika) should be known as” SMARAN’T'IIKA’”.

It is part and parcel for a Sadhaka’s ( Spiritual aspirant) life .

It was during 1979 , in the Jagrti at : 511 Jodhpur Park , Kolkata (Calcutta) – 68, INDIA .

Therefore ” SMARAN’T'IIKA’ name is to be used in stead of ” Pratiika” .

Further explanations:

The triangle with the upward vertex represents the objective, physical world. As one scans down the triangle, the vertex goes from a point to the base of the triangle; i.e. it represents the individual’s association with society; objective adjustment and social service.

The triangle with the downward vertex represents the inner journey; the aspect of meditation. As one scans down the triangle, the base of the triangle becomes a point; i.e. it represents the introversive movement towards the Cosmic Entity; the subjective approach or Self-realisation.

The superimposed triangles represent a balance of the inner and outer life; a subjective appraoch with an objectictive adjustment.

The rising sun represents the awakening of the Soul; the Cognitive Faculty; Spiritual Advancement.

Svastika: (SU+ASTI+IK+Á) => That which does Eternally good.

The Svastika’s vertical line represents Purus’a (Consciousness), and it’s horizontal line represents Prakrti (the Operative Principle). The “handles” around the Svastika represent the direction of the flow of the Kundalini. The Kundalini flows in counter clock wise fashion as it rises.

If worn on the body, the Pratiika also symbolises remaining in physical contact with the Guru.
